Congratulations, Attila Vajda, Olympic Gold Medalist
Thursday, September 11, 2008
Hungarian flatwater canoeing athlete Attila Vajda captured the gold in the men’s 1000-meter canoe singles on Friday, August 22, winning Hungary’s first gold medal of the games at Beijing. Attila, 25, told reporters that during the race he drew inspiration from the memory of his friend, two-time Olympian Gyorgy Kolonics, who died while training for the 2008 Games. He said, “It was a tough race, but he was with me throughout until the last 50. From there on, I didn’t need him.” Attila paddled to victory ahead of the competition, crossing the finish line in 3 minutes, 50.467 seconds.
Attila, who was selected by his coach as the “secret weapon” of the Athens Olympics, previously took home the bronze in the men’s 1000-meter canoe singles in the 2004 Games, and in 2006 won the national title at the World Championships held in Duisburg, Germany. A consumer of Herbalife® products, Attila counts Liftoff® brand and Niteworks® brand dietary supplements among his favorite products. He said, “When I am feeling tired and cannot concentrate, I take Liftoff®–even during training and competitions. I recommend it to everyone.”*
Congratulations, Attila!
