Magnesium

I've told you about Magnesium in the past nutrition tips, and the information on benefits continues. A new study from Korea suggests that supplemental magnesium may reduce blood pressure. The findings were published online in Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases.
“These findings suggest that magnesium supplementation may help prevent the progression of hypertension in normo-magnesemic non-diabetic overweight people with higher BP, although mechanisms of counter-regulation preventing further BP increase remain to be elucidated,” wrote the researchers from Pusan National University.
Magnesium is found in fruits and vegetables, fish and nuts such as almonds. It has a myriad of benefits in the human body but is especially important in blood pressure. There are many people who are magnesium deficient and who may not know that it contributes to high blood pressure.
So be sure to get your healthy magnesium levels everyday, I recommend around 400mg/day if not a little more.
Wishing you the best of health!
